  • I am speaking of welfare as in food stamps, cash assistance etc.. Unemployment is just that for unemployed and is limited by how much the individual made and has time limits as well. Not the same thing.

  • The people that contribute the least in tax dollars use the most in social programs. Your suggestion that those people paid with their tax dollars is weak. I would wager that most on welfare have paid very little if any in tax dollars in their life time or for a very long time.

  • It angers me when everyone wants to lower the deficit so long as nothing they care about is on the table. I am a vet and believe strongly in our nations defense and military but it as any other program or department is on the table for me.

  • This is still being debated to this day. The Federalist Papers if I recall correctly even Madison and Hamilton didn't agree on the boundaries of "general welfare". Don't act as if that clearly defines that the constitution supports welfare because to many it does not.
